Chevrolet Slashes Prices On OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi Data Plans

Chevrolet became the first automotive brand to offer 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity across its entire vehicle portfolio, and now it’s helping more owners get connected by cutting prices just ahead of the 2016 Independence Day.

The Bowtie brand has announced that it will cut the data prices of its in-vehicle OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot by 50 percent while introducing a new 4 GB data plan for $20 per month that bridges the gap between the 1 GB and 10 GB plan.

The news means that the 1 GB plan moves from $20 to $10, and the 10 GB plan from $80 to $40. $150 now earns you 20 GB rather than 10 GB, and it can be used (the data doesn’t expire) for the entire year. AT&T wireless customers can still add their vehicle as a device to their mobile share plan for $10 a month. AT&T provides the data.

To note, a 4G LTE connection comes standard on all new Chevrolet retail models with the OnStar Basic Plan, which also features remote vehicle access and the AtYourService marketplace via the myChevrolet mobile app.

New Chevrolet OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot Data Plan Structure
Data Plan Old Pricing New Pricing
1 GB per month $20 $10
4 GB per month N/A $20
10 GB per month $80 $40
20 GB per 12 months $150 for 10 GB per 12 months $150

“As more people embrace the technology, it brings down the cost of entry for all users,” said Laura Keck, OnStar Subscriber Marketing Strategy manager. “With these lower prices, we expect even more customers to use 4G LTE connectivity during this busy summer driving season.”
